The average independent coffee shop uses around 60 kg of coffee beans per week — roughly 2 tons per year. Now multiply that by the thousands of cafés in any city.

But here's what most people don't see. It's not just the used grounds. It's the espresso shots pulled too early, too late, over-extracted, under-extracted, or simply never served. Perfectly good coffee, discarded. In high-volume shops, that can mean litres of brewed coffee per day going straight to the drain.
